I really liked it! Compulsively readable and brisk, a good magic system, characters with distinct voices, and an interesting plot. Not quite as good as _Babel_, a book that it invites comparison to due to its subject matter, but a very good execution of what it's doing. Fans of Naomi Novik and R. F. Kuang will probably like this.
